Who we are & what we do
At Alternative Hair we pride ourselves on service and hospitality. The availability for each client to have their hair styled in such spacious and palatial surroundings.
We have a wide range of hair care products along with hairdryers, straighteners and brushes in our in-house shop.
With a wealth of knowledge built up over the years in hairstyling, cutting, colouring and scalp care, as well as cutting, colouring and styling of hair pieces and wigs also.
What we do…
In the salon we like to keep an eye on current trends, so our clients get the opportunity to be up to date with the current style’s.
Products used on the hair after shampooing are of a high quality each one picked for you with attention to;
• scalp condition
• style required
• longevity on the blow-dry
• also offering a few oils from the free from range.
We are also very lucky to be one of the few salons that can offer a choice of rooms in our very spacious and luxurious building with off street parking with 2 rooms on the ground floor available for disability access, or if you feel you that you are in the high category for COVID, and also privacy if requiring a hair replacement system. (The ground floor rooms must be booked in advance)
The VIP Salon...
Here we offer you a VIP experience by appointment only at least a week in advance. This is where you can have your hair styled in total privacy, perfect if you need time out, maybe you are just getting home from work but still need to finish up a few pieces of work without any distractions, or possibly need a catch up with a friend but just don’t have the time why not come along together catch up while having your hair done. Maybe it’s just a time in your life where meeting the public is just not for you.
Colouring @ Alternative Hair
At Alternative Hair we pride ourselves in keeping up to date with the current trends and keeping a close eye on the science coming forward, on the chemicals we are using on clients hair and scalp we make a conscious effort to be as organic (free from) as possible.
We give you a choice of colour. All our colours are PPD FREE of course but we also offer, Ammonia free and the absolute go to colour for anyone with scalp sensitivity or having been through Chemotherapy is our;
100% Natural range with ingredients such as;
CHESTNUTS, CHERRIES AND HONEY, RICE MILK AND CARAMELS,
FREE FROM AMMONIA AND WELL-KNOWN ALLERGENS PPD AND RESORCINOL,
We offer many back-wash treatments which are tailored made especially for you by the stylist after having a scalp consultation done. I highly recommend having one of these done at least once a month.

Alternative Hair Solutions are based Draperstown, in the heart of Mid Ulster, 50 minutes from Belfast and within an hour of most major cities within Northern Ireland, we are situated @ 55 St Patricks Street, BT45 7AJ, on the Main Street, in a beautiful Victorian building, constructed in 1874.
